This series will attempt to introduce readers to the common birds of Arkansas and, in general, the Southeastern U.S. Most of these birds will be feeder birds and will have profile information including what they might eat that a human can provide. Some of these backyard birds won’t eat food provided but will use other human offerings like bird houses, water, or nesting material. Some birds in this series come to feeders to eat the feeder birds. I will try to provide photographs of each species and give a good description of their prevalence and preferences. I will try to keep the species in taxonomic order. The profiles will be edited as we learn more about the birds and their interactions with the backyard ecosystem.
